Veneer furniture is constructed by gluing thin layers of wood veneers together with the grain at right layers over a thick core. With this crisscross design, the chances of splitting or cracking is reduced. The end result creates a product that is stronger than the natural wood. Furniture made with veneer uses less wood than the same piece of furniture made with solid wood and thus more environmentally friendly.
